JAMMU, Oct 5: Member Parliament (MP) from Jhansi, Anurag Sharma, led an Indian delegation of 125 persons to the 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) conference held in Africa to advocate India’s role as the “Mother of Democracy” on the global stage.
Sharma shed light on subjects like energy, poverty eradication, the Central Government’s advantageous energy-related programs, bio-fuel, the Gobardhan Yojana, Ujjawala, energy security etc at the conference that commenced on September 30, 2023 and will conclude on October 6, 2023.
This accomplishment followed his election as the Treasurer of the leading World Body, CPA, at the 65th CPA conference last year. Sharma was elected as the Treasurer of the Association for a period of three years. With his appointment, India got its position at the Association after a wait of 17 years.
A statement said that the Jhansi-Lalitpur MP, Anurag Sharma, emphasized India’s commitment in achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2070 in the conference.
He engaged with distinguished MPs from other nations, learning valuable insights on poverty alleviation, democratic institution strengthening, and constituency management.
He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for this remarkable opportunity.
Anurag Sharma’s dedication to his constituency and his nation is evident through his roles in various parliamentary committees, including Science and Technology, Environment and Forests, Health and Family Welfare, and Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. He also served as the Deputy Whip of the BJP in the Lok Sabha, reflecting his commitment to his party.
As the Founding Chairman of AYUSHEXCIL, Sharma prioritized promoting Ayurveda abroad and supporting Indian industry stakeholders.
He was instrumental in bringing the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority to Jhansi, following the NOIDA pattern, with the support of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Ji.
