MP expresses concern over spike in COVID-19 cases

SRINAGAR, May 3: National Conference MP from Anantnag, Hasnain Masoodi has expressed concern over the increase in number of COVID-19 cases in Anantnag.
He has expressed dismay over non-procurement of personal protection equipment (PPE) kits and N-95 face masks for the health professionals and 3 layer face masks for other frontline workers engaged in combating coronavirus in COVID-19 hospitals and designated red and buffer zones.
In a handout he stated that though an amount of Rs 45 lakh was released from MPLAD for procurement of the ventilators and PPEs, sufficient to procure 3-4 ventilators, 800 PPE kits, 1500 N-95 face masks and 15,000 three layer masks, yet the procurement of the essential items has not been made and resultantly the health professionals and other frontline workers are feeling insecure.
Masoodi expressed anguish over sluggish procurement process has asked the J&K administration to give a free hand to the concerned authorities to speed up the procurement and infuse confidence amongst the healthcare professionals and other workers.
Masoodi has also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of lady patient from Kharpora, Breng a few days back and the lady patient from Seer Hamdan today and the alleged negligence of the medical staff in two shocking incidents.
