NEW DELHI: A noted footballer-turned- politician today presented a football to the Speaker in the Lok Sabha.
Celebrating the FIFA decision to hold the Under-17 FIFA football world cup in Kolkata later this year, former footballer Prasun Banerjee, who is a Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member, approached the Chair with a football and handed it over to Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
Banerjee, a former Captain of the Indian football team, did this as soon as the House met for the day.
“I decided to gift one to our beloved Speaker. A small memento from a former football captain,” he said.
The final will be held at the Yuva Bharti Krirangan in Kolkata on October 28. (AGENCIES)
