JAMMU, Oct 24: Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma today inaugurated a trade fair cum exhibition in the Gandhi Nagar area.
This six-day-long trade fair will provide an opportunity to the local artisans and craftspeople trained under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana to display their fine products and goods for sale through 80 stalls set up at the venue.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, along with MLA Bahu Vikram Randhawa and Director of Industries and Commerce Arun Manhas, inspected all the stalls and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing training and loan facilities to local artisans and craftspeople under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana for starting their own ventures.
Sharma stated that the Prime Minister, through his schemes, has been trying to reach out to different sectors that were previously ignored by past Governments.
He emphasized that the PM has upskilled a significant number of unemployed youth by providing them with basic training and loans, which will go a long way in offering them self-employment opportunities.
Vikram Randhawa, MLA Bahu, also commended PM Modi for boosting the growth of MSMEs and promoting his vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat through such schemes.
Randhawa noted that this initiative will help revive the declining local art and craft of the Jammu region.
An artist who underwent basic training under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana and set up a stall at Gandhi Nagar expressed gratitude to PM Modi for the training and loans.
He mentioned that after the basic training, advanced training will also be provided to artists to enhance their skills in marketing strategies.
