JAMMU, June 1: Workers of Mission Statehood J&K (MSJK) led by their president, Sunil Dimple here today staged a protest demonstration against PDD and PHE Departments for the acute scarsity of drinking water and unscheduled power cuts.
Number of women and others holding empty buckets joined the protest and raised slogans against PDD and PHE Department.
Addressing the protesters, Sunil Dimple said that PDD and PHE are charging and delivering high bills but have failed to provide proper power and drinking water supply.
He said that hydel projects like that of Salal, Uri, Rattle should be returned to J&K and power bills of poor people should be waive off.
“The power curtailment has increased in summers despite privatization of J&K PDD and installation of Smart Meters,” MSJK leader continued.
He said that for the last one week, people of Jammu are not getting proper drinking water and no tankers are supplying water to the people.
Dimple demanded that construction work on water supply scheme from Chenab in Akhnoor to Jammu city should be started immediately.
Rekha Devi, Renu Devi, Koushalya Devi, Rajinder, Tarsem, Kala Kumar, Gopal and many others were also present in the protest.
