JAMMU, May 29: Activists of Mission Statehood J&K (MSJK) here today staged a protest demonstration against PDD and PHE for poor water and power supply in Jammu city for the last one week.
The protest was led by MSJK leader, Sunil Dimple who said that PHE Department has stopped giving new water connections and 20,000 fresh applications for the same are lying pending with the department.
Dimple gave a 24 hour ultimatum to J&K Government for restoring regular water supplies and stopping unscheduled power cuts.
He demanded return of Salal, Uri, Ratle power projects to J&K and waive off power bills of poor families.
The MSJK leader said that the Government has announced a four hour cut in Jammu city and long power cuts in rural areas.
“The power curtailment has increased after privatization of the PDD and installation of Smart Meters,” he maintained adding that for the last one week drinking water supply has been badly hit and demanded the start of construction work for water supply scheme from Chenab river in Akhnoor.
Vijay Sharma, Ram Kapoor, Sudershan, Mangu Singh, Kala Kumar, Gopal and many others were also present in the protest.
