JAMMU, Mar 4: All J&K Motor Transport Companies Representatives/Agents Association (MTCRAA) elected its office bearers, in a meeting of the association held here today.
The meeting unanimously elected Gajan Singh as president and Farman Ali as chairman of the Association. Besides, Jugal Sharma has been elected as vice chairman-cum- cashier, Vicky Khajuria as senior vice president, Shanker Singh as vice president, Anoop Kumar as secretary and Susheel Sharma (Vicky) Sooden as joint secretary.
Later, addressing a press conference, Gajan Singh said that ours’ is a registered Association of representatives of recognized Transport companies of J&K with Labour Commissioner J&K. He said different investigating agencies like Vigilance, Crime Branch and Police Department have raided the RTO office time to time and none of the registered representative was found indulged in illegal activities till date but still general public presumes us as a blot.
He has further said that some unscrupulous elements are active in RTO Office Jammu and the Association has not issued them the ID Cards, as has been issued to their (registered with the Association) agents for their identity. Singh said these unscrupulous elements issue fake certificate in lieu of handsome amount and hence befooling the common masses and malign the image of registered agents.
The newly elected president of MTCRAA urged the RTO to desist such persons to enter the office. At the same time, he appealed the J&K administration to announced compensation at the rate of Rs 20,000 for each registered agent due to losses suffered during Corona period.
