An enquiry by a Joint House Committee was initiated in the year 2016 in respect of the missing valuable items of the Toshkhana or the (Royal) treasury following outbreak of a mysterious and devastating fire in a portion of Mubarak Mandi Complex and the valuables, antiques etc were shifted to the civil secretariat. On May 16 , a meeting of Joint House Committee of Legislative Council constituted on Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex under the Chairmanship of MLC Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo expressed concern about the inordinate delay in submission of the enquiry report by the concerned authorities.
The issue of the keys of the Toshkhana too came up for deliberations and the need of handling the same through the court was being pursued. Secretary Law briefed the committee about the factual position and other legal aspects of the said Toshkhana .
Legislators attending the meeting put forth their views about early settlement of issues in respect of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex. It, however, remains to be seen how early are those suggestions implemented in deference with the emotive and historical feelings of the people attached with Mubarak Mandi. In the meantime, submission of the enquiry report, under reference, needs to be expedited.
