JAMMU, Dec 24: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was airlifted to New Delhi from Srinagar this morning and admitted in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after he complained of uneasiness at his residence in Srinagar.
He was flown to New Delhi in a State aircraft.
Mufti Sayeed accompanied by his wife and PDP president and his daughter Mehbooba Mufti was flown to New Delhi after he felt uneasiness this morning and was admitted in Room No. 1003 of the AIIMS under the supervision of Dr Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie, Assistant Professor, Endocrinology and Metabolism.
79-year-old Sayeed’s condition is stable, an AIIMS spokesperson said in New Delhi. He was admitted in the private ward of the premier medical institute at 12.30 PM.
“He was admitted with complaint of fever in the private ward. His condition is absolutely stable, except for a little fever.
“He is being looked after by a team of doctors from the departments of Endocrinology and Medicine. He will undergo a battery of investigations to know the cause of his problem,” said Dr Amit Gupta, AIIMS spokesperson and Additional Professor of Trauma Surgery and Critical Care at AIIMS Trauma Centre.
According to another doctor in AIIMS, the Chief Minister was supposed to visit the hospital today for a routine medical checkup under the supervision of Dr Mohammed Ashraf Ganaie, Assistant Professor, Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Meanwhile, an official spokesman said in Jammu that Sayeed had proceeded to Delhi for a medical checkup following exhaustion during a hectic tour of the city on Tuesday.
“The Chief Minister today proceeded to New Delhi for consultation and health check up at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS),” he said.
The Chief Minister undertook a hectic six-hour-long tour of Srinagar city on Tuesday amidst intense cold, after which he complained of exhaustion, the spokesman said.
On Wednesday, he took complete rest at his official residence.
“It was felt appropriate to proceed to the Union capital for consultation and medical checkup. The Chief Minister’s health is absolutely fine and he is taking rest,” the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh visited Mufti Sayeed in the AIIMS and enquired his condition.
Dr Singh was with Mufti Sayeed for half an hour.
