JAMMU, Nov 24: Seeking support of every section of the society to change destiny of Jammu and Kashmir, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed today assured political empowerment of ethnic and religious minorities in the State if the party come into power.
“Ensure victory of PDP candidates, I will give representation to members of minority community in the Legislative Council”, he promised while addressing a series of public meetings at Gool, Ladha, Ladh, Chehweh and Daram areas of Reasi district in support of party candidates.
Mufti assured the people that besides accelerating developmental activities in this most backward and poverty stricken areas of Jammu and Kashmir, PDP would also political empower to ethnic and religious minorities of this belt to provide them equal opportunities in all spheres of life.
Reiterating commitment of his party to formulate a comprehensive policy for the over-all growth and upliftment of the far-flung backward areas, he regretted that lopsided policies propagated by the successive Governments have deprived opportunities of development and growth to the huge chunk of the population.
Mufti said that it was his desire to establish a system where every individual would get justice and equal opportunities for development and economic growth. He added that during its tenure the PDP led regime had proved its capability of changing life of the common masses by treating all individual equally and providing equal opportunities to all sections of the society. “Unlike other parties PDP has never compromised with its agenda. Our agenda is to protect dignity and honour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to provide justice to all sections of the society,” he said.
Expressing his anguish over abject backwardness and poverty in this mountainous belt, Mufti reminded the people that during PDP led regime special attention was paid towards far-flung and backward areas. “Unfortunately our successors failed to carry forward that agenda of inclusive growth and development”, he regretted but assured that people that PDP would formulate a comprehensive policy for the socio-economic growth of the marginalized residents of these neglected areas.
He said that this mountainous region has huge tourism potential and there was a need to properly exploit tourism of this belt. “Proper utilization of tourism potential of this beautiful belt would bring change in the socio-economic conditions of the people of this backward belt”, he said at Gool and assured that PDP would formulate a comprehensive plan for this belt to change fate of the people. He also promised to create job avenues for unemployed youth of this belt.
Highlighting achievements of the previous PDP led regime, Mufti said that previous Government led by PDP had carved out a path of peace and equitable development in Jammu and Kashmir and had laid strong foundation of development in the State. It was only during three year regime of PDP that equal treatment was given to all regions and sub-regions of the State,” he claimed.
