Mufti for empowering weaker sections to ensure balanced development of society

JAMMU, Apr 6: Reiterating resolve of his party to work for the socio-economic growth of weaker sections, patron of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that empowerment and upliftment of marginalized lot of the society was main agenda of the party.
Addressing a function to welcome two prominent Dalit leaders namely Badri Nath and Lal Chand, who joined PDP along with their supporters here today, Mufti emphasised on formulating policies which help in inclusive growth and emancipation of suppressed and neglected lot of the society. He argued that socio-economic growth of the Dalits, Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and other weaker sections was must for the over-all development of the society.
“Benefit of the developmental policies and other welfarist schemes must be reached to neglected lot of the society”, he said and added that democracy flourished in the country only due to the over-whelming participation of these communities in the democratic process.
He mentioned that it was an established fact that weaker sections of the society always turned up in large number to exercise their right to franchise in every elections. But, he regretted, these marginalized sections of society were not getting real benefits of the schemes especially formulated for them. “Apart from formulating schemes for these sections, there should be a mechanism to ensure that benefit of such schemes must be reached to the deserving people”, he said.
“These is a need to formulate a comprehensive policy especially to target these sections for inclusive development in the society”, he said and assured the gathering that PDP was committed for socio-economic growth of the neglected lot of the society.
“Programmes and policies of PDP are formulated by incorporating wishes and aspirations of all sections of the society”, he said and reminded the gathering that during PDP led regime various programmes were launched for the upliftment of weaker sections of society.
Badri Nath, who joined PDP today, was district president of BSP while as Lal Chand is a senior Congress leader.
