JAMMU, Mar 17: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will be Leader of the House in the Legislative Assembly and Minister for Education and PDP leader Naeem Akhter Leader of the House in the Legislative Council.
The PDP-BJP coalition Government has only two MLCs as Ministers-Naeem Akhter (PDP) and Minister of State for Cooperatives (Independent Charge) Chering Dorjey of BJP.
The Leader of the House has to be a member of that House.
In 2002 despite being the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed couldn’t be named as the Leader of the House as he was a member of Legislative Council. Then Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma had then been nominated as Leader of the House.
