SRINAGAR, July 1: Immediately after chairing the District Development Board (DDB) meetings of Srinagar and Budgam districts, Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, today visited G. B. Pant Children’s Hospital  at Sonawar, which was badly affected during the floods of September 2014.
While taking a round of the hospital premises, the Chief Minister was informed by the Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Dr. M. K Bhandari, that the hospital’s intake capacity has been reduced by 68 beds due to the floods as all the machinery, which was installed in the ground floor, had to be shifted to the Ward Section, located in the first floor.
Mufti Sayeed gave immediate directions to relocate the Gynae Ward, which will pave way for creation of additional capacity of 22 beds, that can be utilized as Paediatric Surgical Wing in the hospital.
He also directed the Secretary to provide Critical-Care Ambulances for the Children’s Hospital.
The Chief Minister was also informed that the staffing issue at the hospital, in particular posting of paramedics, is being augmented and 10 additional ventilators are also being provided to the hospital shortly.
