SRINAGAR, Dec 7: Two days after National Conference president Farooq Abdullah called for a unified struggle for restoration of Article 370 and statehood, its Women’s wing president, Shameema Firdous, today made a scathing attack on Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peoples Conference.
While addressing workers in Handwara area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district today, she accused PDP president Mehbooba Mufti of destroying J&K.
“Kanals of land are being given to the Army in several areas. The PDP has turned everything into pieces; those people destroyed everything who are boasting of ‘Mufti Sahab Ka Khwab’ today. Basically, Mufti sahib’s dream was to sell Kashmir, to offer Kashmir to India on a plate for whatever they wanted to do with it. And today they are doing it”, she said.
“What did Mehbooba do when she became the CM, she got several youngsters killed. She said in Handwara that if youngsters do not sit back home, they will also be killed. And that’s what she did. Numerous girls, boys were blinded by pellets”, she alleged.
She said if Mehbooba had not “enjoyed” power with BJP situation would have been different. “Where were her fierce speeches back then? What she is saying today is totally opposite to what she did then. If she wouldn’t have enjoyed power with the BJP, the present situation would have been quite different. We would not have been dependent on India today, and if we are, it is all due to what PDP did back in power”, she said.
“We were taught by the Sher-e-Kashmir that it is better to lose your head rather than putting it down in submission. We have been sold by PDP. If people are even protesting against the lack of basic amenities, they can be jailed and booked under PSA”, she said.
“Some people in Kashmir want power and that they are not worried about the present situation which is grave and worrisome. If those people are really concerned and understand the pain of a commoner, they would have forced India for dialogue, but no, they are after power; only Dr Farooq and Omar had that mettle”, she said.
The NC leader accused Sajjad Lone and his party of being “agents of India”.
“Sajad Lone’s father had once said in Mumbai that Kashmir does not want 370 which indicates that they are the agents of Govt of India. They are after power and nothing else”, she said.
