POONCH, Dec 29: Historical Mughal Road connecting Rajouri- Poonch district with Kashmir Valley has been permanently closed for about three months.
Official sources said that due to continuous snowfall at Pir ki Gali and in the adjoining areas of Mughal Road from 25th of this month, road is not in condition to be thrown open to traffic.
Pertinent to mention that this road has been closed for several times before this also due to snowfall but was thrown open again after clearing snow.
Senior officials of PW(R&B) Department said that due to continuous snowfall, accumulation of snow in higher reaches, it is now impossible to clear snow and open the road for vehicular movement as snow fall will occur again and again now onwards and moreover road would remain slippery as well.
“The road will remain closed for about three months and snow clearance work will get started after March which will depend on weather condition,” they added.
