Srinagar, June 15: The Government today declared Mughal Road open for the transportation of fruits from Kashmir.
An order issued here in this regard by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Pandurang K. Pole stated that the road is hereby declared open for downward traffic exclusively for the transportation of fruits like Cherry, Plum and Apricot from June 16.
As per the order, the movement is subjected to certain conditions. The timing of the movement of trucks shall be 11.00 am to 4.00 pm only with due adherence to the guidelines.
“No passenger vehicular movement whatsoever is allowed on the road,” the order stated.
It has also ordered for the establishment of Health Check-up centres, establishment of traffic check posts at Dobjan and Peer Ki Gali.
It shall be ensured that vehicles should be preferably 4×4 or mechanically sound, not overloaded and should carry load as per permissible tonnage,” the order said.
“Drivers shall be experienced and familiar with the hilly road. Each vehicle shall have one driver and a conductor only. Timing of the movement of trucks shall be 11.00 am to 4.00 pm only,” it added.
District Superintendent of Police, Shopian has been directed to obtain a road clearance certificate from Chief Engineer, Mughal Road Kashmir on a daily basis before allowing any vehicle to ply.
District authorities also have been ordered to consider weather advisory on daily basis before allowing the traffic movement.
“All advisories regarding mitigation of COVID-19 shall also be adhered to in letter and spirit. The arrangements shall be reviewed periodically as and when the situation demands,” the order said.
