JAMMU, May 30: Mughal Road which remained closed for several months after snow fall during winters was thrown opened to traffic with restrictions.
Dy Commissioner, Poonch Sajjad Ahmed Khan said that according to Executive Engineer, R&B Mughal Road Division, the snow from Peer Ki Gali and Chhatta Pani besides on north side of the ‘Peer Pass’ has been cleared. He said the road was slippery at certain points near Peer Ki Gali but it has now been opened to light motor vehicles.
The Executive Engineer has further disclosed that the road was also narrow at several points where snow was thick. In view of the slippery road conditions and narrow patches, some restrictions on the movement of vehicles have been imposed.
Mr Khan said that no vehicular movement will be allowed after 4 pm and before 8 am. The police naka points have been issued instructions not allow movement on the road beyond the prescribed time. However, in case of bad weather the movement of vehicles will not be allowed. In view of slippery road conditions, the R&B authorities are taking all precautions. After the road condition improves, the movement of heavy vehicles will also be allowed on this road, the DC added.
