Mughal Road shut even after 14 days of snow clearance

POONCH, Apr 23: The demand to open Mughal Road connecting Rajouri-Poonch with Kashmir has gained momentum with more political and community leaders projecting their voice for the cause, despite the fact that snow clearance work was over about two weeks ago.
Several former MLAs, BDC Chairpersons and DDC members including Shah Mohd Tantray, Ch Akram, Shamim Ganai, Shahnawaz Choudhary, Nazia Gani and Shafiq Mir have expressed serious concern over the matter and claimed that people of the area are suffering due to closure of Mughal Road that too without any solid reason.
They said the patients, students, employees and general public, are looking towards the UT Government to issue orders regarding opening of this road but despite clearance of snow since long, this road has been kept close for traffic movement due to the reasons best know to the people at the helm of affairs.
They urged the LG’s Administration to open Mughal Road for vehicular movement without any more delay.
DySP Traffic Aftab Hussain Shah when contacted said that they have deputed Traffic Police personnel on Mughal Road as directed by the higher authorities but movement of vehicles shall be allowed after Government issues order in this regard.
A local senior officer in the administration said that they have written about the clearance and status of Mughal road to the higher authorities and the decision in this regard will be taken by them accordingly.
It is pertinent to mention here that snow clearance work on Mughal Road has been completed before more than two weeks but vehicular movement has not been allowed on it till date.
