JAMMU, Dec 11: Vijaypur wore a festive look with a large number of people of the town and its peripheries joining star-studded road show with children showing keen interest in their favourite Superman, Mukesh Khanna and youngsters itching to have a word with Mukesh Rishi, who accompanied the National Conference candidate Surjeet Singh Slathia today in his massive road show.
The Bollywood stars kept waiving at the crowds while seeking vote for Mr Slathia.
The National Conference candidate made a passionate appeal to the politically sagacious people to vote him for ensuring faster development of the constituency.
“Much has been done and still more is required to be done for putting Vijaypur at the top of developmental map of Jammu and Kashmir and make it a model constituency”, Mr Slathia told the people who had assembled in large numbers on the wayside.
Mr Slathia referred to the initiatives taken over the years and said the progress registered in various sectors would not have been possible, had the people not come forward in a big way and participated in the effort by giving their valuable suggestions. He said this odyssey will continue with a renewed vigour in years to come.
“Holistic development and upgradation of utility services is my priority and no stone would be left unturned to achieve the defined objectives in a time-bound manner”, Mr Slathia said, adding that the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has always shown keenness in the development of Vijaypur constituency. He said the area needs a holistic approach keeping in view its strategic location on the National Highway. This aspect has always been kept in mind while devising developmental schemes for the constituency, he maintained.
The road show took off from Gurah Slathian and passed to Rahya via Rajinder Pura, Rahya to Bhadori, Bhadori to Smailpur and Smailpur to Barjani.
Later Mr Slathia also addressed election meetings at Bari Brahamana and Birpur.
