JAMMU, Oct 13 : Mula Ram, former Minister and Vice President Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has expressed concern over delay in providing compensation to the farmers for the loss of their crops in the recent rains and devastating floods and demanded that the process should be completed expeditiously.
Mr Ram was speaking in the public meetings at Batera and Manyal Brahmna. He said that farmers and other people have suffered heavy loss in the recent rains and floods but they have not been compensated so far. He urged the Government to complete the assessment process and provide compensation to the affected people as early as possible. He said that it was natural tragedy in which many precious lives were lost and their dead bodies could not be recovered. He criticized Central Government for not declaring it a “National Disaster” and delaying the release of funds.
He further said that it is unfortunate that Pakistan has again started heavy firing along the border and compelled India to retaliate, which is not in the interest of any country. There is war like situation along the border and the civil population has suffered the most.
Maintaining that prolong border firing is not in the interest of any of the countries, he said it would be wise, if diplomatic dialogue process is started without further loss of time.
