JAMMU, Oct 18: Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, today organized two Dogri literary programs in Jammu.
In the first programme ‘Mulaakaat’, four young and upcoming poets and one new short story writer were provided platform to present their literary works to the audience.
Saroj Bala, an upcoming writer read her short story, whereas Tara Chand Kalandri, Ashok Amber, Mohd Rafiq and Padam Dev Nadaan recited their poems.
The audience which constituted senior writers, critics, scholars and prominent citizens appreciated the presentations made in the programme.
The second one was a prestigious program ‘ Meet the Author’ with veteran Dogri poet Prakash Premi.
‘Meet the Author’ is a series of programs which Sahitya Akademi organizes throughout the country with renowned writers of all languages recognized by the Akademi.
Premi read extensively from his works and also interacted with the audience, which led to the knowledge of many new unknown aspects of the personality of Premi.
While welcoming the audience, Prof Lalit Magotra, Convener of Dogri Advisory Board in Sahitya Akademi, said that both the programs play important role in the development of language. Whereas ‘Mulaakaat’ program encourages the young and new writers to create literature, ‘Meet the Author’ brings out the special attributes of established and well known literati, both of their literature and persona.
Shantanu Gangopadhaya, Asstt Editor of the Sahitya Akademi, introduced the participants and threw light on the forthcoming programs, which have been planned for Dogri language.
