MULBPA expresses concern over Finance Dept’s circular

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, May 23: Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners Association (MULBPA) expressed concern over circular issued by the Finance Department regarding physical verification of the old age/senior citizens by the Treasury Officers.
The Central Government pensioners are verified by the bank manager of the respective branches of State Bank of India, where from they draw their pension and only a simple alive certificate duly attested by a gazetted officer is taken annually. They are not asked to under go identification grade as is the case with the State Government Pensioners here.
The State Government pensioners are automatically verified when they draw their pension dues from the bank branches.
The Finance Department should make easy policy for old age pensioners keeping in view their grievances.
Among others present were BS Jamwal, president, CL Jalali, ML Gupta, KG Khajuria, Badrinath Bhat, YS Jawmal, Indu Bhushan and RK Gupta.
