M&ULBPA holds meet, projects demands

JAMMU, Feb 9: Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners Association (M&ULBPA) held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president Attar Singh and discussed the demands of the pensioners.
BD Verma, general secretary of the Association said that the previous Government failed to redress the issues of the pensioners.
He demanded release of DA installments, enhancement of medical allowance to Rs 1,000 per month, additional pensionary benefits after the age of 80 years, bifurcation monthly pensionary and gratuity funds of the civic body pensioners and removal of anomaly amongst family pensioners.
Verma urged the Governor NN Vohra to redress the issues of the pensioners on the priority basis.
He also disclosed that a delegation of the Association led by Advocate BS Jamwal also met newly elected Rajya Sabha member of BJP Shamsher Singh Manhas and took up the demands of the pensioners.
The delegation also demanded state subject status like PoK refuges to the Valmiki safai karamcharis, who were brought in 1953 from Punjab during the regime of then Health Officer Jammu Municipality RS Modi.
Manhas assured the delegation that he will take up the issues of the pensioners with the State and Central Government for the redressal of the long pending demands of the safai-karamcharis.
Among others, who attended the meeting were Tarseem Lal Gupta, Usha Bhushan, Jawahar Lal Sharma, Shiv Kumar Sharma, KS Sambyal, ML Gupta, Choudhary Gulzar, Daya Singh, Karam Singh, etc.
