KATRA, Oct 19: The ongoing eight day long multimedia exhibition being organised by Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) here today saw heavy footfall on its day 4.
Aimed at mass awareness regarding various public welfare schemes of Government and the progress made in different sectors during the last nine years, the exhibition is being organised by Field Office of CBC Udhampur at GHSS Katra from October 16 to 23.
Information about the welfare schemes is being disseminated to the public in an integrated manner through photo exhibits, informative standees, expert lectures, IEC material as well as by medium of performing arts and cultural programmes.
District Development Council (DDC) member, Katra, Nirmala Devi presided over the proceedings on day 4 and said that the exhibition is an opportunity for the locals and devotees alike to know about a spectrum of schemes and programmes being run by the Government for public welfare.
Ghulam Abass, Joint Director CBC, J&K and Ladakh region said the multimedia exhibition at Katra is designed to provide the information through a direct interaction between the stakeholders and in an easy as well as entertaining way.
Rahul Kushan, Branch Head, SBI Katra talked about various schemes aimed at financial inclusion, self employment, farmer welfare, social security and up-liftment of the poor and the marginalised.
Various activities for students were organised which included devotional dance competition and tug of war for girls. An open quiz on the Central Sector Schemes and Centrally Sponsored Schemes was also organised. Prizes and commendation certificates were awarded to the winners in each category of the competition at the conclusion of the programme.
Among others who participated in today’s event were Deputy Superintendent of Police & OSD, Raj Kumar, Principal GHSS Katra, Fateh Singh, Heads of various Private and Government Educational Institutions, devotees and locals.
Usha Dogra, Teacher GHSS Katra moderated the daylong event.
