Multiple raids conducted across Kashmir against proscribed organisations

SRINAGAR, Mar 27: Police conducted multiple raids across Kashmir today as part of police investigations into the activities of several proscribed organisations.

The raids were conducted in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Shopian and Baramulla districts at multiple locations and searches were conducted at the residences of individuals associated with the proscribed organisations, including Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP), and J-K Muslim League (Masrat Alam Faction).
Police teams early today carried out searches at the residential premises of separatist elements suspected of involvement in unlawful activities that pose a threat to public order and national security.
A police spokesman said that during the search operations, law enforcement officials seized incriminating material linked to the activities of these banned groups. “The recovered items are now under investigation, forming a crucial part of multiple FIRs registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA)”.
“The raids were conducted in the presence of Magistrates and independent witnesses to ensure full legal adherence and procedural transparency,” police said.
Police in Baramulla registered an FIR against persons affiliated with banned IM for alleged anti-national activities.
“The IM, headed by Masroor Abbas Ansari, has been found involved in activities that pose a serious threat to the integrity and sovereignty of the nation,” an official said.
Earlier on March 11, the IM was banned by the Centre for five years for their alleged anti-national activities, supporting terrorism and fuelling secessionist activities.
The organisation’s members have been linked to militancy-related incidents, stone-pelting on security forces, and inciting public unrest against the Union of India.
Police in Baramulla conducted a raid in the Jalal Sahib area of Old Town Baramulla, leading to the recovery of Incriminating materials. “The raid was carried out based on credible intelligence inputs,” a police spokesman said.
A police team, led by DySP HQ Baramulla Altaf Ahmed along with SHO Baramulla Risabh Shukla carried out a search operation at the residence of Irfan Ahmed Kababi, a member of the banned outfit Muslim League, in connection with case FIR No.12/2024 U/S 10,13 UAPA.
“During search Incriminating materials like posters and i-cards of Muslim league were seized. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and purpose of these materials,” the spokesman said.
Police in Ganderbal this morning carried out multiple searches at various locations across the district as part of an ongoing investigation into the cases related to the proscribed organizations.
“The searches were conducted in connection with Case FIR Numbers 03 and 04 of 2024 registered at Police Station Ganderbal under Sections 10 and 13 of the UAPA Act,” Police said.
“During the searches, police teams raided the premises of several suspects associated with the banned outfits. The raids were conducted in multiple areas of the district including Check-Akhal, Kaw-Cheewan, Kangan, Preng and Sehpora in Ganderbal”.
Srinagar Police today conducted searches and raids at multiple locations in Srinagar as part of the ongoing investigations into cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The cases pertain to banned organization, including Jammu and Kashmir Peoples league Bashir Ahmad Tota Group.
“The searches were carried out in connection with suspected members of these proscribed organizations and in furtherance of investigations in Case FIR No. 32/2024 under Sections 10, 13 of the UAPA and Sections 121, 121A of IPC registered in Police Station Safakadal Srinagar”.
Raids were conducted at the residence of Bashir Ahmad Tota located at Pathan Colony Zakoora and simultaneously at his old residence in Reshanhar Nawakadal Srinagar.
Police spokesman said that the searches were conducted after obtaining search warrants from the Special Judge designated under the NIA Act in Srinagar. “In accordance with legal procedures, all searches were carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses”.
