JAMMU, Apr 4: Jeeva Daya Charitable Trust Medical Wing of SS Jain Sabha J&K organized a one day AYUSH awareness cum checkup camp in collaboration with Directorate of AYUSH J&K under the guidance of Dr Mohan Singh (Director AYUSH J&K) and supervision of Dr Vandana Dogra (Medical Superintendent, Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Indira Chowk, Jammu).
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Mohan Singh emphasized that principles of living in harmony as enshrined in the philosophy of Jainism propounded by Lord Mahavira are the fundamentals principles of holistic and positive health which must be adopted and propagated. Stating that 2023 has been declared as International Year of Millets, he urged the community to adopt millets as therapeutic diet and for health promotion.
General Secretary of SS Jain Sabha, Sandeep Jain highlighted that AYUSH is not only traditional wisdom of health care but also future of holistic health care.
On the occasion various specialists from different units of Government Ayurvedic Hospital offered their free consultation for people who attended the program from all walks of life. Free Ayurvedic medicines were also distributed among the patients who availed consultation services. Various Yoga asana and pranayama were also demonstrated by skilled Yoga specialists from the hospital.
An exhibition of various components of AYUSH like medicinal plants, herbs and millets was also organized by the Department of AYUSH. In order to generate awareness among community about millets, millet grains were exhibited and various millet based recipes were also demonstrated to the general masses. More than 356 patients availed the services in the camp.
On the request of SS Jain Sabha and Jeev Daya Charitable Trust, the Director Ayush assured that two organizations shall work on the proposal of opening a Integrative Health and Wellness Center after completing all the necessary formalities.
