Mumbai gangrape finds echo in Lok Sabha

NEW DELHI:  The Mumbai gangrape of a photojournalist found an echo in the Lok Sabha with members cutting across party lines demanding strong action against the accused and assurance  that such heinous acts do not recur in the future.
Gopinath Munde(BJP), Jaya Prada(unattached) and Saugata Roy(AITC)
vehemently raised the issue and asked the Centre to ask for a detailed report of the incident.
Mr Munde said the incident has sent shock waves across the financial capital of the country and women fear to step outside their houses after the evening.
He said Mumbai is no longer safe.
He said after the December 16 gangrape, a fund was created for rape victims but not even a single rupee has not been deposited in
the fund.
He said after the Delhi gangrape incident the House discussed the
matter threadbare and it was assured by the Government that every measure would be taken to ensure no such incident recurred.
Ms Jaya Prada said she was deeply pained at the incident and demanded that the accused do not go unpunished.
She said no woman could feel safe in such insecure atmosphere.
