UDHAMPUR, Mar 10: Supporting the ongoing strike of Safai Karamcharis, under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Safai Mazdoor Sangh, Municipal Councilors of Udhampur too joined the dharna today in front of Municipal Committee office.
Surinder Singh, vice president of Municipal Committee Udhampur, said that they have been pressing for genuine demand. “We appeal to the Government that their demand should be considered at the earliest,” he added.
Continuing their indefinite protest dharna, the Safai Karamcharis of Municipal Committee Udhampur threatened to further intensify their struggle if the Government does not concede their demands.
Protesting under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Safai Mazdoor Sangh Udhampur and observing dharna in front of the office of Municipal Committee Udhampur, these people are demanding regularization in relaxation to the new recruitment rules for the class IV jobs, including Safai Karamcharis and Drivers.
Girdhari Lal, Urban Local Body working president J&K and Kaka Husan president Municipal Udhampur led the protesters.
“The strike will continue till Government concedes demands of the Safai Karamcharis, who are frontline warriors but facing discrimination and apathy of the administration,”said Girdhari Lal.
