JAMMU, Mar 22: Mohalla Welfare Committee (MWC) Munshi Chak, Gole (NGO) held a protest demonstration in front of JDA office, Rail Head complex, here today.
The protesters led by Surinder Singh, vice president, (MWC) raised slogans against the JDA authorities for the failure to get their land at Gole vacated from encroachers and land grabbers. The protesters alleged that the connivance of the authorities has been proved in the matter and it is surprising that the Government is acting as a mute spectator despite of clear cut instructions by High Court.
They also said that people of adjoining localities are confronted with numerous problems because of this illegal colony. Many illegal activities like bovine smuggling is a routine matter in this colony. Even police personnal do not have courage to visit this colony, they alleged.
The residents of Munshi Chak (Gole) and all adjoining localities have decided to boycott the coming elections if encroachment is not removed before elections.
The protesters have urged the Chief Minister to intervene in the matter and issue necessary instructions to concerned officers for immediate removal of encroachments throughout the State and added that the encroachers should be dealt with iron hands in order to restore the diminishing confidence of common man in the present Government.
Others present on the occasion were Om Prakash, S Avtar Singh, S Balwant Singh, S Harbajan Singh, Vinod Sharma, Anil Kumar and three dozen of residents of Munshi Chak and adjoining areas.
