JAMMU, July 3: Gandhi Nagar police under “Operation Sanjeevani” nabbed a murder accused along with 20 grams of heroin, worth over Rs 1 lakh.
As per police spokesman, on specific information, a team from Gandhi Nagar police station laid a naka near cremation ground chowk, Shastri Nagar and signaled a without registration number motorcycle to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the rider accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops nabbed him after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 20 grams heroin worth over Rs 1 lakh from the possession of the rider and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Hardev Singh alias Tinku, son of Surjeet Singh, a resident of Simbal Morh, Jammu.
It is pertinent to mention that Hardev Singh was also involved in a murder case registered under FIR Number 153/2007 under Sections 302, 201 and 120-B RPC with police station Satwari and fake currency case registered under FIR Number 32/17 under Sections 489-C, 489-D and 120-B RPC with police station Miran Sahib.
A fresh case under FIR Number 115/17 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against him at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and associates of the arrested persons involved in drugs peddling.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Ritesh Samyal along with Incharge Digiana police post SI Pawan Dogra made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
