Murder convict dies in Jail

JAMMU, May 16: A murder convict today died of some ailment in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, in city outskirts.
The deceased has been identified as Harvinder Singh (50) son of Inderjeet Singh, a resident of Ward No 1, Bhor Camp. He was convicted in a murder case and had completed nine years sentence out of total 10 years.
According to SHO, police station Gharota, Inspector Ravinder Singh, the convict was suffering from some ailment for quite some time. His condition deteriorated this afternoon following which he was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
The body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after completing all medico-legal formalities.
A case under Section 174 CrPC has been registered in this concern at police station Gharota.
