Murder of 65-yrs old woman worked out

UDHAMPUR, Sept 29: Police has solved the mysterious death case of 65-year old woman and arrested her daughter-in-law and stepson.
Police spokesman said that on April 2, 2012 dead body of Rano Devi, widow of Bhag Mal was found hanging on a tree near her house at village Sunater in Ramnagar tehsil. As the death had occurred under mysterious circumstances and actual cause of death had to be ascertained, inquest proceedings under Section 174/CrPC were initiated at Police Station Ramnagar.
During the course of enquiry, it transpired that daughter-in-law of the deceased namely Manju Devi, wife of Sohan Lal of Sunater and step son of the deceased namely Abinash Singh used to harass the deceased over a land dispute.
Succumbing to the constant mental torture and harassment, Rano Devi took the extreme step and ended her life by hanging on a tree near her house at mid-night. Later, the inquest proceedings were converted into criminal case under Section 306/RPC and further investigation started.
Later, both the accused were arrested by the SHO Police Station Ramnagar, Rakesh Bamba under the supervision of SP Udhampur, Benam Tosh and SDPO Ramnagar Munish Agarwal.
While accused Manju Devi was remanded to 10 days judicial custody today, accused Abinash Singh was remanded to 5 days custody.
