JAMMU, Aug 2: Gandhi Nagar police foiled a murder plot with the arrest of a notorious criminal along with country made pistol and live cartridge.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station laid a naka near Satwari and intercepted a person, who was trying to hide himself from the cops.
During checking, police recovered country made pistol and one live cartridge from the possession of the person and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Pawan Sharma, son of Ashok Sharma, a resident of Bhour Camp, near Satwari. With his arrest, police foiled murder plot.
The accused was involved in 16 criminal cases including attempt to murder, snatching and burglary cases registered with different Police Stations of Jammu District. He was also detained under PSA for one year and was presently out of jail.
A fresh case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, Incharge SP South Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
