VIJAYPUR, Nov 13: Following murderous assault on a youth, here late this evening, strong protest erupted in Vijaypur town and the agitating people blocked the every busy Jammu-Pathankot National Highway for more than an hour.
The incident of assault took place around 10 pm when the victim Pardeep Kumar alias Chini was called out of his house and then allegedly attacked by Vikas Slathia and his accomplices with some sharp edged weapons.
The victim was again attacked at the local hospital where the same accused inflicted critical injuries on him and fled the scene. Bleeding profusely, Pardeep Sharma was rushed to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu and his condition was stated to be critical.
The news of murderous assault spread like wildfire in the Vijaypur town and a large number of people took to streets in protest against the incident. All the shopkeepers downed shutters of their business establishments while agitating people blocked the ever busy National highway.
The protesting people were demanding immediate arrest of the accused persons. They could be pacified only after SSP Samba Joginder Singh personally reached the spot and assured early arrest of the accused.
