BHADERWAH, Dec 30: To revive the age old tradition of holding Gojri Mushairas, Anjuman-e- Taraqi Gojri Adab organized mega musical concert-cum-mushaira here today.
The Gojri Mushaira followed by musical concert was held at jam packed auditorium of Government Degree College, in which beside renowned Gojri poets and famous singer Shabina Choudhary participated. Special preference was given to the budding and raw talent in both poetry and music.
SDM Gandoh Dilmir Choudhary was the chief guest, while Additional SP Bhaderwah Rajinder Singh and Tehsildar Masood Ahmed were the guests of honour. The mushaira was conducted by the famous Gojri poet Jan Mohammad Hakeem.
The poets and singers, who performed for the first time in exclusive Gojri Mushaira and concert, received an overwhelming response from the audience.
In his introductory address, Jan Mohammad Hakeem highlighted the activities of Anjuman in promoting literary activities in and around Chenab valley.
President Anjuman-e-Taraqi Gojri Khakaan Sajjad was all praise for the veteran poets and sufi singers who despite very short notice agreed to participate in the event that too at a village.
“Despite limited resources and financial constraints, we are trying hard and putting in all our efforts to expand the horizon of our activities to revive the age-old Gojri culture of literary meets, and musical concerts in far off areas as well. Today’s Mushaira is the result of joint efforts put by members of Anjuman”, said Jan Mohammad Hakeem, General Secretary Anjuman-e-Taraqi Gojri Adab.
Beside famous and radio approved graded singer Shabina Choudhary, prominent Gojri poets and singers who recited their poetry and folk songs include Shafat Shaheen, Khuda Baksh Khayaali, Saabir Sambri, Abdul Qayoom Betaab, Basharat Nazak, Mohammad Sharief Aftab, Mohammad Hanief Chirag, Aish Ali, Rubina and party, Aasiya Bano and Noor Mohammad Kasana.
