JAMMU, Jan 14: Demanding restoration of the relief provided to the displaced persons, several Muslim Migrant families staged a demonstration outside the Relief Commissioner (Migrants) office here today.
Addressing media persons, the chairman of the All Kashmiri Muslim Migrant Committee (AKMMC) said that the relief of 1251 Muslim migrant families, who moved to Jammu along with the Kashmiri Pandit families during the peak of militancy, was stopped around one-and-a-half-year back by the Government in the name of verification.
“And till date the relief is not restored,” he said.
He, however, claimed that some of the families are being paid the relief selectively.
The AKMMC Chairman demanded that the Government come clear on the progress achieved so far in completion of the initiated verification so that at least the relief of those families is restored whose verification process has been completed.
He also appealed the Government to discuss other cases in which the verification is pending so that the aggrieved families are given a justification for stoppage of the relief.
