JAMMU, Mar 13: Governor N N Vohra today released the book “Pakistan Under Army Rule”, written by former Director General of J&K Police, M.M. Khajooria.
This volume is about the journey of Pakistan under Army’s rule and its contributions in the country’s evolution vis-à-vis relations with India.
The Governor observed that this book has come out at a momentous time, when there is a new Government in Pakistan, important constitutional developments due to shortly take place in Afghanistan and India shortly electing a new Government.
He said that for peace and stability in the sub continent, it is necessary for all countries in South Asia to have deeper and better understandings of mutual concerns.
“My personal experience of interactions with individuals in Pakistan establishment and civil society establish that people of both the countries (India and Pak) are not inimical to each other but when it comes to the Government level, the things become complicated,” he said while pointing out hurdles in good relations between the two neighbouring countries.
The Governor appreciated Mr Khajooria for his painstaking research in bringing out a substantial volume and hoped that this book would contribute to better understandings and better relations between the neighbours.
Earlier, Mr Khajooria threw light on journey of Pakistan since its creation and the Army rules that were imposed by the military dictators there.
The welcome address was presented by Seema Shekhar Khajooria and a vote of thanks was presented by Chander Shekhar Gupta.
