MV Deptt books traffic violators

JAMMU, May 25: Going pro-active against the traffic violations in Jammu, the Motor Vehicle Department today conducted surprise checking of  vehicles and booked the violators who were also imposed fine of more than Rs. 2 lakh.
On the direction of Transport Commissioner Sanjeev Verma and RTO Jammu Arvind Kotwal, a joint team of Motor Vehicle officers of Board of Inspectors and ARTO Office Jammu conducted extensive inspection and checking of Motor Vehicles.
During the drive, a joint team led by ARTO Jammu Kuldeep Singh and Chief Motor Vehicle Inspector Jugal Sharma laid nakas from 3 am to 10 am on National Highway and other routes. Eighty vehicles of different category were challaned and compounded fine of Rs 1.76 lakh on the spot while penalty worth Rs 50,000 was imposed on other vehicles.
According to ARTO Jammu Kuldeep Singh the surprise checking will continue in future also to avoid violation of traffic and Motor Vehicle Rules.
