JAMMU, Oct 2: Enforcement team of Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) today conducted extensive enforcement and checking drive in various vulnerable routes of Jammu district.
The team checked more than 130 vehicles out of which 49 were challaned /compounded under various Sections of the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA).
Challans were issued for offences like overloading in goods/public service vehicles, plying without valid permit and road tax certificate, driving without license, seat belt and helmet etc.
During the day long drive, a fine amounting to Rs 1.43 lakh was realised on spot from the violators.
Meanwhile the inspection team also made the people aware about their duties towards observing traffic norms and road safety while travelling. The violators were informed that similar checking drives would continue in the coming days and asked them to strictly adhere to traffic norms to avoid any further strict action by the department.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of RTO Jammu and was led by ARTO Jammu Jugal Kishore Sharma, assisted by Motor Vehicle Inspectors Gurmeet Singh Bali and Anupam Gandotra.
