SRINAGAR, Feb 10: Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Baramulla unveiled the MVD Baramulla wall calendar at Sanctorum College of Education Lalad Sopore during valedictory function of 30th Road Safety Week under the theme “Sadak Surakhsha Jeevan Raksha”.
Speaking on the occasion, ARTO Baramulla Dr Mohammad Zubair Lattoo said that this is for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir that such an initiative has been taken from the transport department and we are fortunate that this has been done by our district. He further said that calendar is very informative and displays message pertaining to road safety and through this initiative awareness will be generated among the masses also.
President Traders Federation Sopore, President Industries and Commerce, and students from various schools presented their views regarding safety measures to be taken while driving before the audience.
On the occasion, a cultural programme and songs on traffic related laws were performed by Tulkul Cultural Academy. The theme of the show was ‘Safe and Disciplined Driving’.
In the end, mementoes and certificates were distributed by the dignitaries among the participants who participated in the essay competition and commendation certificate were also given to best drivers who were found to be obeying traffic rules.
Later, Mohammad Ashraf War Chairman Sanctorum College of education gave a vote of thanks.
Among others present were President Traders Federation Sopore Qazi Hashmatulla, President Industries and Commerce Javaid Ahmed, Proprietor Welkins Institute Inayat Khan, SHO Tarzoo Javaid Ahmad and officials from MVD department.
