JAMMU/ SRINAGAR, Aug 4: To ensure focused, planned and sustainable rural development, conservation of water bodies and polythene free environment in the villages, “My Village, My World” campaign was launched across the State today.
At Samba, Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga today launched the campaign from BDO office Bari Brahmana. On the occasion a mass pledge was taken to keep cleanliness and spread awareness about hygiene. An awareness van was flagged off by the Minister and a Green Walk awareness rally was organised in which school children, employees and people from different walks of life participated. A plantation drive was also launched by the Minister. A play was staged to spread awareness about benefits of avoiding plastic, afforestation and stopping open defecation.
At Baramulla, Minister for Rural Development and Panchyati Raj, Abdul Haq launched State-wide “My Village, My World” campaign. Minister for Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari, MLA, Baramulla, Javid Hassan Baig besides Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Director Rural Sanitation, Director Rural Development, SSP Baramulla, officers of district administration and Rural Development Department, Panchayat representatives and students were present on the occasion. While speaking, Minister Abdul Haq said that cash prize of Rs 2 lakh will be given to 6 Panchayats of the State, 2 from each region including Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh for successful implementation of the campaign. Students from various educational institutions also threw light on “My Village, My World” campaign and highlighted the importance of the campaign through speeches, short skits, Ladishah and other mesmerizing programmes. Earlier, the Minister lit the torch and released the “My Village, My World” campaign logo.
At Pulwama, Rural Development Department (RDD) and Panchayat Raj Pulwama launched ‘My Village My World’ Mission at Government High School Gangoo. MLA Pulwama, Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Assistant Commissioner Development and other officers were also present on the occasion.
At Karnah, MLA Raja Manzoor Ahmad and Sub Divisional Magistrate Shabir-ul-Hassan flagged off the Swachh Bharat Mission rallies. As a part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, a seminar on the topic, “My Village, My World” was conducted at Wavora Block of Lolab constituency in which the students of the block participated.
At Kathua, “My Village My World” mission was launched with great pomp and show by DDC Kathua, Ajay Singh Jamwal by kick starting the activities by planting a sapling during plantation drive under the mission at Government Degree College Kathua today. ADDC Kathua Manmohan Singh (Nodal Officer, District Level CGM Committee), ADC Kathua Mushtaq Ahmed, ASP Kathua Nisar Khan, District Panchayat Officer Anil Thakur (Member Secretary), ACD Kathua Sunil Sharma, DFO (SF) Kathua, DFO ( T) Kathua, CEO Kathua, DEPO Kathua, DIO Kathua , CMO, BDO and all other District officers were also present. DDC also flagged off Green Walk rally under “My Village My World” Mission where hundreds of school students carrying placards with messages went through the Kathua town and culminated at District Sports Stadium. A programme was also organized at Sports Stadium where debate, skits and cultural programme were organized on the theme of Clean and Green India. Similar programmes were held at District Hospital, Lakhanpur, Logate, Badala, Basholi, Billawar, Jandore, Hiranagar and Marheen.
At Sunderbani, Block Development Office (BDO), Sunderbani and Siot Dr Sahil Jandyal launched Clean and Green Mission/Pledge in Siot, Thandapani, Balshama, Bakhar, Channi, Hathal, Bhajwal, Nah, Patrara, Kangari, Devak, Thangriot, Marchola and Prat Panchayats. Sarpanchs, Panchs besides large number of locals were present on the occasion. Different activities including clean and green walk, symposium, rallies, plantation drive/pledge were held in 26 Panchayats involving school children. While creating mass awareness under the mission, BDO laid stress to end open defecation by constructing Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) under Swacch Bharat Mission (SBM). He appealed to the panchayat members to be aware of each and every household in their areas for disposal of solid waste and complete ban on use of polythene bags. He also stressed for plantation of more and more saplings in their panchayats for clean and green India.
At Rajouri, District Development Commissioner, Deepti Uppal launched the campaign by planting various plants in the premises of middle school, Ganyal.
At Poonch, DDC Nisar Ahmed Wani launched “My Village, My World” campaign at village Jhulas. The campaign was simultaneously launched across the district in several villages including Sanai, Mandi, Loran, Sathra, Golad, Mankote and Dhargloon. The main programme held in Jhulas Panchayat, where plantation drive was started and rallies by students were taken out displaying placards and banners spreading the message of ‘Clean and Green’ village. Assistant Commissioner Development, Dr Basharat Hussain, District Panchayat Officer, Zaffar Ahmed Banday, PMRD Fellow, Sahai Karan Reddy, Block Development Officer Poonch, Majid Jahangir besides students, villagers and Sarpanchs and Panchs of adjoining Panchayats were present on the occasion.
At Ramban, District Development Commissioner, Farooq Shah Bukhari launched the campaign in Panchayat, Pernote B of Ramban.
At Udhampur, Sanitation Campaign “My Village, My World” was organised at various venues across the district registering large scale participation general public, elected representatives, students and field officials of various departments. The campaign was launched by District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary at Krimchi Panchayat in CD Block Udhampur where plantation was carried out followed by awareness camp, pledge and rally taken out across the villages. The programme was launched at all 19 CD Block Headquarters and 8 tehsil headquarters. SDM launched the drive at Chenani and convened awareness camp for all Sarpanchs, Panchs and officials for departments highlighting the objectives of the campaign and targets to be achieved by each village. Sushil Kumar, tehsildar organised a series of events at Latti-Marotti Tehsil in collaboration with BDO and other departments, Harjeet Singh, tehsildar Basantgarh flagged off a rally of students at Basantgarh and organised plantation drive. Similar programmes were organised at Majalta, Ramnagar, Dudu, Pancheri, Moungri, Tikri and Sudhmahadev among others. The event was also organised at Panchayat Headquarters across the district where the Sarpanchs and Panchayat Secretaries convened the awareness camps and organised plantation drives. Dr Jagish Mehra DPO and PO DRDA coordinated the cultural programmes and organized events. Assistant Commissioner Development Dhanantar Singh supervised the Gram Panchayats organised by concerned BDOs.
At Reasi, Rural Development Department launched “My Village, My World” campaign. A grand function was held at Panchayat Mari in Block Reasi where hundreds of Gram Sabha members including school students drawn from nearby educational institutions pledged to make their surroundings pollution free, polythene free and against open defecation. DDC Sushma Chouhan was the chief guest on the occasion. Assistant Commissioner, Development Reasi, Suram Chand Sharma was also present.
At Nowgam, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj launched ‘My Village, My World’. A rally was organized by the Block Development Office Srinagar wherein students of the various schools participated. The field functionaries and officers of other departments, ASHA workers, Community Health Officers, Anganwadi workers and helpers and Supervisors of Social Welfare Department, teachers and students of various schools of education zone Srinagar, Panchayat representatives and respectable persons of the area also participated in the programme. A debate was also held on sanitation in AGM City School and awards were distributed among the students who bagged first, second and third positions.
At Bandipora, in view of launching the Mission ”My Village My World”, a function was organized by the Rural Development Department at Panchayat Ghar Nadihal. District Development Commissioner, Bandipora, Dr Shah Faisal was the chief guest at the function which was attended by District Panchayat Officer Bandipora, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Assistant Commissioner Development Bandipora, other officers, Panchayati Raj members, citizens and students. Later, a rally was taken from the venue which was headed by the District Development Commissioner himself.
At Kupwara, DDC flagged off the students rally for cleanliness drive. The officers, engineers of district administration including Additional District Development Commissioner, Chief Education Officer, District Panchayat Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Information Officer Kupwara, Block Development Officer Wavora, Project Officer RDD and Executive Engineer REW, PRIs representatives were present on the occasion and shared their experiences. Earlier, DDC also flagged off a van of Rural Development Department and Panchayat Raj from DC office Kupwara in presence of the officers of Rural Development, Education and Information Departments. Functions were organized by the departments associated with the Swachh Bharat Mission implementation at Handwara also.
At Anantnag, DDC Bashir Ahmad Khan launches “My village My World” Mission at GHSS Hassan Noor. The programme which was organized by Rural Development Department Anantnag in collaboration with other allied departments, was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development ,District Panchayat Officer, Programme officer ICDS, Block Development Officer, PRI members, Lawyers, Teachers, Media Persons, civil society members, religious leaders besides students in a good number.
At Kulgam, “My Village My World” campaign was launched at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Katrusoo by DDC RK Bhat. The programme was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Additional District Development Commissioner, District Panchayat Officer, Assistant Development Commissioner, Principal, GHHS (Girls), Katrusoo, Block Development Officer, Civil Society, mass media, PRI members and other distinguished members of the society.
At Chowki Choura, “My Village My World” campaign was launched in all the 10 panchayats with main function at Panchayat Choura. The campaign was launched by Shokat Mahmood, Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu in presence of Mita Kumari, BDO Chowki Choura, officers/officials of Sub Division Chowki Choura, citizens and school children.
At Bhalwal Brahmana, Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj in collaboration with various other departments launched “My Village My World” at all panchayats under the chairmanship of BDO Moksha Dogra. The programme was attended by Headmaster Ravi K Gupta, Dr Ajay Khajuria (NHM) and local masses. On the occasion, students of different schools presented skit on cleanliness. A declamation contest was also held, which was followed by prize distribution function. Later, a clean and green walk was taken out.
