JAMMU, Nov 28: Police today worked out death of a girl under mysterious circumstances in Channi Himmat area and arrested a driver.
Police spokesman said that on May 1, 2012 information was received in Police Station Channi through Police Control Room that one Geeta Devi, daughter of Ram Nath of Chhattisgarh and presently putting up in Sector No 3 of Channi Himmat was admitted in Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu under unconscious condition.
On this, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Channi Himmat Inspector Deepak Pathania proceeded to GMC to record the statement of Geeta Devi. However, doctors declared her unfit for giving any statement. The under construction house in Sector No 3 Channi Himmat where the lady was putting up was minutely inspected by SDPO East S S Sambyal and SHO Police Station Channi Himmat.
From the spot inspection, it came to fore that Geeta Devi herself or someone had administered the grinded phenyl to her. During the course of investigation, Geeta Devi died and accordingly inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC were initiated.
During the course of further investigation, SDPO East and SHO Channi Himmat Police Station under the supervision of Rajeshwar Singh, SP City South succeeded in solving the mystery behind the death of Geeta Devi and arrested a driver.
The investigation revealed that a driver namely Joginder Kumar alias Sonu, son of Kamal Kishore of Thangar was visiting the house of the deceased frequently where two niece of deceased namely Pinky and Lalita were also putting up. The investigating team secured the presence of both the young girls along with their relatives in Channi Himmat.
The girls told the police that on the fateful day Joginder Kumar had administered grinded phenyl to Geeta Devi and threatened them of dire consequences if they dared to narrate the incident to anybody.
During the questioning, Joginder Singh revealed that he had physical relations with the deceased for last about one year and she was compelling her to enter into wedlock. To get rid of Geeta Devi once for all, the accused administered her phenyl.
