JAMMU, Sept 13: Rajouri Police today solved the mysterious explosion that took place in a locality at Maira Chowkian village of the district, in which a few vehicles parked inside the compound of some houses were damaged.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri Chandan Kohli said that on the intervening night of September 5-6, an explosion took place in front of the house of Susheel Kumar, in which three cars and a scooty were damaged.
“Soon after the explosion, the forensic team visited the spot and collected samples. The explosion site was closely examined and a team of senior police officials started investigation. The police team examined the evidences collected, treating the case as top priority.” added the SSP.
He said during the course of investigation, ‘’a few suspects from the area were detained for questioning, during which police team zeroed in on one Abdul Khaliq, resident of Maira Nagrota, who is a plumber by profession and lives in the same locality, where the explosion took place.”
When police raided his house, they recovered evidence such as explosive material, detonator and ball bearings, which were of the same make as the ones used in the explosion, Kohli added.
“The detained person broke down during questioning and confessed that he himself had prepared the explosive material and later planted it in the parking area of the house where the explosion took place,” said the SSP.
He further said that some monetary issue and pending payments were the reason behind the incident and the accused carried it out in a fit of anger.
“We are further investigating the matter, but there is no militancy angle involved in this matter,” added the SSP.
