RAJOURI, Oct 25: Mystery shrouded the death of a middle aged man whose dead body with head injury was recovered from Aans river in Kandi area of tehsil Kotranka of district Rajouri this morning.
Some poney-wallas who had gone to the river side to bring sand noticed the body lying in the Nallah and informed locals of the area. A large number of people gathered there and they identified the deceased as Mohd Yasin (41), son of Mohd Sharief, resident of Jaglanoo, in Kandi area of Kotranka.
The locals informed police at Kotranka. The SHO Kotranka, Haji Bashir along with some men reached the spot and shifted the body to hospital for postmortem. The deceased had sustained injury on back side of his head. He went missing on October 21 and did not return home.
He was blacksmith by profession. The family said that he had gone to take grass from the fields and went missing. All were searching for him and a missing report had also been lodged with the Kotranka police in this connection.
The police also found mobile phone, watch and some cash in the pocket of the deceased while a sickle carried for cutting grass was also lying nearby. There were some blood stains on the pointed front edge of the sickle.
The police sent the body for postmortem to Kotranka Hospital and later handed over to the family for last rites. The police has started investigation under Section 174 CrPC in this connection. The police suspected that Yasin might have fallen by accident and sustained head injury and kept lying there and died. It said that Rs 6700 cash, a mobile phone and watch were lying intact with him. However, police team was investigating the matter from all angles.
