UDHAMPUR, Jan 15: A Military weapon and equipment display’ was organised at Govt Degree College, Udhampur by Northern Command to commemorate Army Day with the aim `know your forces’ based on the initiative of ‘Military Might’.
Weapons of fighting and combat supporting arms were displayed in the event. The event was an endeavour by Northern Command to spread awareness among the youth and school children about the culture, ethos and combat profile of the Indian Army.
Military display of weapons has been a means to instill a sense of pride and faith in the custodians of national security in the hearts and minds of the people. A day long display of military equipment gives visitors a rare opportunity to see how the Indian Army operates to keep the nation secure and safe. Besides familiarizing the youth with equipment and weapons, the event also inspired the youth to join the Indian Army.
The display of equipment was a showcase of the capabilities of the Indian Army. The weapon and equipment display presents a wide range of small arms, Artillery Guns, Armoured vehicles, communication setup and other specialist equipment. The display kindled patriotic fervor and pride amongst the youth and facilitated educating them about the most capable and relevant instruments of comprehensive ‘National Power’.
The event represents the Army’s people-friendly approach among the local populace. Besides, exclusive counters for recruitment through various entries/channels were established to provide requisite information to youth for joining the armed forces.
