JAMMU, July 20: Jammu and Kashmir Regional Office of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) celebrated 42nd foundation day of the Bank today.
Kamal Patnaik (Regional Director, RBI Jammu) was the chief guest on the occasion. Along with the staff members of NABARD J&K Regional Office, delegates from banks and line departments also attended the function.
In his welcome address, Bhallamudi Sridhar (CGM, J&K Regional Office) highlighted the key areas of NABARD such as infrastructure financing, support for KCC, nurturing of co-operatives and RRBs through recapitalization, computerization of co-operatives, e-commerce portal such as Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) for sale of products, supporting SHGs, FPOs, etc.
He laid stress on the need to become relevant with the ever-changing rural ecosystem. He further encouraged all the stakeholders to work together as an entity and understand the requirement of each other to address the issues of Rural India.
Kamal Patnaik in his address said that today NABARD has completed 41 years of existence and is inspiring everyone to undertake research-driven and data-driven interventions to make rural India strong and productive. He further apprised the audience regarding the establishment of a robust framework for data backed decision making process to map the credit potential, informed credit-related decisions and defining the thresholds for credit approval based on the model predictions.
This was followed by a presentation on NABARD’s initiative in UTs of J&K and Ladakh.
