KATHUA, Feb 27: NABARD conducted training programme on Tie and Dye activity with KVK for Self Help Groups to make SHG members self-reliant at village Mangloor in tehsil Hiranagar.
The main participants in the meeting were Aman Kalsotra, DDM, NABARD, Kathua, Dr Sheetal Badyal, SMS, Home Science, SKUAST, Jammu, Dr Anamika Jamwal, SMS, Plant Protection, KVK, Kathua, Dr Neerja Sharma, SMS, Horticulture, KVK, Kathua, Dr Meenakshi, NICRA, Nirmala Devi, GHK and SHG members of Mangloor village. The SHG members were exposed to training on tie and dye activity.
Aman Kalsotra, DDM, NABARD, Kathua explained the role of SHG in Rural Development. He explained in detail the responsibility of group leaders to motivate group members to develop activities which can be undertaken by the group members, availing individual loans from bank, maintaining liaison with banks etc. He asked SHG members to avail individual loan from banks for activities suitable to them, for which dairy is the best option.
Dr Sheetal Badyal, SMS, Home Science, SKUAST, Jammu explained various techniques involved in tye and dye activity, ranging from cutting of cloth, tying of clothes, establishing design patterns, choosing colour combinations, colouring of clothes, dying, etc. She assured all the help from SKUAST, Jammu.
Live demonstration was held on the occasion. The SHG members themselves learnt the art of tie and dye, made the products on the spot which were displayed on the occasion.
Dr Anamika Jamwal, SMS, KVK informed them about the activities being taken up by the other SHG groups in the country.
Dr Neerja Sharma, SMS, KVK Kathua impressed upon the SHG members to avail credit benefits from the banks, by focusing on establishing income generating units.
