JAMMU, May 24: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) today organized programmes for farmers, one at village Rengi in district Udhampur and the other at village Chak Slarian in Vijaypur Block of district Samba.
At village Rengi, Manohar Lal, AGM (DD), NABARD, Udhampur, organized an awareness programme on ‘Financial Inclusion’, which was attended by Virender Sharma, Branch Manager, JK Bank, Sudhmahadev, Sarpanch Som Raj, Kumar Vivek Shahi, Project Manager, Aptech Agro Pvt Ltd, members of Farmers Clubs and local residents.
Speaking on the occasion, DDM, NABARD informed the participants about the importance of having Saving Bank Account. He also gave an account of the various types of bank accounts such as Savings Bank Accounts, Recurring Deposit (RD), Fixed Deposit (FD), etc and encouraged the participants to avail benefits offered by FD and RD Accounts.
At village Chak Slarian, in Vijaypur, DDM, NABARD, Surinder Singh, organized an orientation programme for the members of NABARD’s Dehati Kissan Club under its Farmers Club Programme.
Ashok Gupta, a renowned agricultural expert; Yograj Slathia, AEO, Vijaypur; Vikrant Sharma, District Floriculture Officer and Vijay Bharti, Branch Head, Axis Bank, guided the participants during the orientation programme.
Surinder Singh, while discussing the concept of Farmers club, explained how these informal forums at gross root level can act as catalyst in promotion of agriculture sector.
Ashok Gupta made a comprehensive presentation on cultivation of various crops, importance of cropping system, diversification of cropping system and its economic benefits for the farmers, use of balanced dose of fertilizers, organic manure and other measures for obtaining maximum production and productivity
Yograj Slathia, Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) highlighted the role of the department about the different schemes including subsidized seed, Agriculture Machinery Equipments, RKVY and Vermi Compost units etc.
Vikrant Sharma, District Floriculture Officer, impressed upon the farmers to take up floriculture farming.
