NABARD organizes Financial Inclusion, Literacy Programme

KATHUA, May 23:  National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) today organized a one-day Financial Inclusion and Literacy Campaign at Bani here to sensitize Bankers, Government Officers, Panchs and Sarpanchs on Financial Inclusion.
The programme was inaugurated by Ranjeet Singh, SDM, Bani.
Speaking on the occasion, DDM, NABARD informed the participants about the initiatives undertaken by NABARD under Financial Inclusion. The objective of Financial Inclusion programme is to mop up micro-deposits, to provide affordable credit, micro-insurance covering not only life and death but also crops, assets and accidents.
He also explained the objective of KCC scheme.
Suresh Kotwal, Cluster Head, J&K Bank informed the farmers about the initiatives undertaken under Financial Inclusion by J&K Bank and asked all the members to open no-frill accounts to their advantage.
VL Sharma, Senior Manager, SBI Life Insurance, briefed the farmers about the different insurance products and how they stand to benefit from it, in the long run.
Mohinder Kumar, Director, R-SETI, Kathua informed the students about the training cum hostel facilities available at SBI, R-SETI, Kathua located at Shiva Nagar.
Ajeet Singh, BDO, Bani explained various schemes being operated through BDO office. He informed about the different subsidies available for people below poverty line and asked farmers to come forward to avail this facility.
SDM impressed upon the Panchs and Sarpanchs to come forward and avail hassle free credit benefits from the banks through KCC, DRI and other products.
The programmme was also attended by R K Kalsotra, LBO, Kathua, Kapileshwar Dogra, Assistant vice-president, J&K Bank, Kathua and Ajay, BDO, Duggan.
