JAMMU, July 2: BJP national president and Union Health, Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister, J P Nadda is visiting Jammu on July 6 to address the BJP’s Extended UT Executive meeting.
This is the maiden visit of Nadda to J&K after the Lok Sabha elections of 2024. The Extended State Executive Committee meeting will be preceded by BJP office bearers meeting on July 5 at Mishriwala near here, party sources said. The Executive meeting will also be held at same venue next day.
Sources said Nadda will be visiting in connection with the birth anniversary celebrations of founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Dr Shyama Prashad Mookherjee which also falls on July 6, who laid down his life in J&K for abolishing of permit system and total integration of the erstwhile State with India Union.
The UT Executive and office bearers meeting will be attended by national general secretary of party and Incharge J&K Tarun Chugh, Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh, co incharge J&K, Ashish Sood, BJP J&K president, Ravinder Raina, party general secretary (Org), Ashok Koul, MP (LS), Jugal Kishore Sharma and MP (RS) Gulam Ali Khatana besides all office bearers of the UT and districts, senior party leaders, former office bearers of UT district and districts, Morcha office bearers etc, sources said, adding about 2000 party men are attending the Extending UT Executive meet.

Sources said a meeting of the party was held here today under the chairmanship of BJP J&K president Ravinder Raina in which detailed deliberations were held and preparations for the UT Executive meeting where given final shape. During the UT Executive meeting the resolutions will be adopted highlighting the party’s achievements at National and State levels and future policies and programmes.
The outcome of recent Lok Sabha elections and party’s performance will also figure during the State Executive meet and future policy programmes for the party will also be chalked out.
Sources said the party while assessing its performance in recent Lok Sabha elections in the UT and its activists and leaders will be asked to concentrate on those areas where the party could not fare well in just concluded Lok Sabha elections. The threadbare discussions will be held how to strengthen party’s base in those areas where it could not perform better in the Lok Sabha elections, sources added.
They said the office bearers meeting which will be held on July 5 will set the agenda for the Executive Committee meeting and finalise the draft resolutions also. Sources said that the party has chosen the July 6 – the birthday of Dr Mookherjee for the Executive meet as the great stalwart had started a national movement from J&K for complete merger of erstwhile State with Indian Union, abolishing the permit system and also abolishing the separate Constitution of J&K as there can’t be a State within a State.
Sources said holding of State Executive meeting on the birth anniversary of Dr Mookherjee one of the founders of Bharatiya Jana Sangh will be a great tribute to him as the great leader attained martyrdom on the land of J&K.
They said during the meeting deliberations will be held on future programmes of the party in the UT level. Though no announcement has been made by the Government for holding of Assembly, Local Bodies, Municipal and Panchayat elections in the UT as yet but the meeting will ask its cadres to be prepared for the same and make a good liaison with masses and overcome the shortcomings.
Sources said that the Extended Executive meeting will also deliberate on organization elections which are likely to be held in October this year and for this the formalities and preparations will begin from this month.
